INFORMATION
SYSTEM AND LEARNING DESIGN
We view an organizational information system as a multi-use tool. It is
not only a repository for all business information, but also should be
an easy to use resource for continuing education and training of staff.
ConduIT's organizational information system design approach takes advantage
of the synergy between SSM-based mental models, corporate information and
communications requirements to create a knowledge environment that fits
the needs of the organization and its users.
We use enablers as the organizing
principle to construct a roadmap for a corporate information system. Enablers
are the containers that hold task guides, tools, templates, wikis, tutorials,
as well as business records that logically belong together.
All explicit
corporate information is accessible from one source and targeted to the
needs of users. The example illustrates the description of a generic enabler
designed for a software development operation. An actual set of enablers
would be mapped to the specific needs of the organization based on a consensus
mental model of its users. Once a logical information structure is designed
we can assist you in acquiring appropriate software tools.
